HIP/HRP Holders – Ensuring Maximum Reliability for Rupture Discs

HIP/HRP holders are specifically designed to ensure maximum reliability, optimize flow (due to optimal opening of rupture discs), assure proper orientation in piping system, provide a tight seal, and prevent fragmentation of DonadonSDD rupture discs.

Typically, a bursting disc holder is a two-piece unit consisting of a base flange (inlet) and a holddown flange (outlet). The face of the holder is machined to hold the bursting disc and forms a leak-tight metal-to-metal seal.

This prevents the rupture disc from being damaged and allows unlimited inspection scenarios (temporary removal of the rupture disc for visual inspection)
These holders are mounted between flanges and the pre-tightened design ensure an easy installation, even in situations where horizontal pipe access is required. The purpose of the pre-torquable holder designs are to allow rupture discs to be installed and then “torqued” to recommended static load levels ensuring proper clamping of the rupture disc within the assembly. This can take place at a workbench rather than in the field where conditions could be less than ideal, greatly reducing the possibility of assembly errors. Once together, the rupture disc assembly may then be delivered to the field location and installed between
companion flanges where additional torque loads applied are essential for proper functionality of the assembly. These assemblies may also be removed, inspected, and replaced during routine maintenance schedules and plant turnarounds without compromising disc performance as long as the disc is not removed.
